### Requirements

**What you need:**
* Your own nano SIM with data and the matching PIN
* Wi-Fi name and password
* Viva login details (only with apomap Pay)

**What's in the package:**
* apomap Terminal, charging cable and power adapter
* Receipt roll (already inserted)
* Depending on your order: holder, case, screen protector

---

# Part 1: Set up the device

#### Step 1: Insert the nano SIM

1. Leave the device **switched off**.
2. Open the back and **remove the battery**.
3. There are two slots in the device. **Use the lower slot.** Don't use the upper slot.
4. Pull out the bracket on the lower slot and insert the nano SIM. The **bevelled corner points to the top left**, the **gold contacts face down**.
5. Push the bracket back and reinsert the battery.

#### Step 2: Switch on

Hold down the **upper left button** on the device until the Terminal starts. Then enter the SIM PIN.

#### Step 3: Go through the initial setup

First choose the language and connect the Terminal to **Wi-Fi**. Then answer the questions as follows:
| Question | Answer |
| ---- | ---- |
| Copy apps and data | **No** |
| Google sign-in | **Skip** |
| Use location services | **Yes** |
| Enable updates and apps | **Yes** |
| Set a PIN | As you wish |
| "Do you want to activate this device now?" | **Yes** |

The apomap app and the Viva app then install automatically. Wait a moment. A restart isn't necessary.

---

# Part 2: Get the apomap app ready

This part applies to everyone and takes about 3 minutes. Here you set up location, printing and navigation once.

#### Step 4: Allow location in the background too

So that a tour can be tracked live even when the screen is off, the app needs access to the location in the background:
1. Press and hold the **apomap icon**.
2. Tap **App info**.
3. Open **Permissions** and then **Location**.
4. Choose **Allow all the time**.

|| Important: The "Only while using the app" option isn't enough – live tracking will then stop.

#### Step 5: Set up the settings in the apomap app

In the apomap app, tap the **apomap logo** at the top left. There you can specify, for example:
* **Print labels:** for example always print automatically
* **Navigation:** always in-app navigation or always Google Maps

#### Step 6: Scan a delivery receipt

1. Open the apomap app.
2. Press the **scan button on the side**.
3. Hold the barcode in front of the scan window.
This works from anywhere in the app. The matching order opens directly.

The Terminal is ready for tours, scanning and receipts.

| Note: The Terminal on its own can't accept card payments yet. You can only accept cards once you've booked [apomap Pay](https://apomap.de/produkt/kassieren/) and connected Viva. You'll find the guide for setting up the apomap Pay module [here](https://hilfe.apomap.de/en/article/wie-richte-ich-mein-apomap-terminal-ein-15gcd9r/) in parts 3 & 4.
