Basic and optimisation parameters for tour planning

These parameters determine how apomap calculates your tours – e.g. whether shorter routes or a fair distribution between drivers matter more.

Basic parameters

Settings → Tour planning → Basic parameters

  • Default stop duration: The number of minutes apomap plans per stop for the handover. If it's too short, the arrival times will be too optimistic.
  • Max. bicycle distance: Up to this distance, orders are planned for bicycle couriers.

Optimisation parameters

Settings → Tour planning → Optimisation parameters. You weight each factor on a scale from 0 (unimportant) to 9 (very important).

Parameter

A high value means

Fair distribution

Orders are distributed as evenly as possible between drivers.

Short routes

The distance driven is kept as short as possible.

Punctuality

Customers' time windows are met as precisely as possible.

Area clusters

Each driver gets one connected area wherever possible.

Driver reduction

As few drivers as possible are used.

Tip: Only change one value at a time and compare the result of the next planning. The factors influence each other – e.g. "Fair distribution" and "Driver reduction" often conflict.

Pickup times per pharmacy

For each pharmacy you can specify the period in which drivers may collect orders there. That way apomap doesn't plan a pickup before the pharmacy opens or after it closes.

  1. Go to Settings and choose the pharmacy at the top left instead of "Global".
  2. On the left, click Route optimisation.
  3. Enter the Earliest pickup time and the Latest pickup time.

A pharmacy's pickup times

Tip: If you leave a field empty, the pickup time isn't restricted in that direction. If you have several locations, set the times for each pharmacy separately.
