How do I set up my Sunmi printer?

Here you'll find out how to add and connect a Sunmi printer in the apomap interface.

Quick overview

  1. Configure the printer and connect it to the LAN or Wi-Fi.
  2. Add the printer (Create printer).
  3. Link the printer to the system (Bind printer).
  4. Check that the status dot turns green.
  5. Do a test print (Test print).

1. Configure the printer

  1. Press the pairing button on the underside of the printer twice. The voice prompt "Network self-checking, please wait" confirms that the check has started.

  1. As soon as the self-check is complete, the printer prints a receipt. It shows the IP address for each supported network connection type.

  1. In your browser, open http://<IP address from the receipt>. On the login page, leave the password field empty – this is the default setting – and click Log in.

  1. The Ethernet tab shows the dynamically assigned IP address and the subnet mask. To set up a static IP address, enter the relevant values in the IP Address (Static), Netmask (Static) and Gateway (Static) fields.

  1. The Wi-Fi tab shows the IP address assigned via DHCP and the subnet mask. For a static IP address, fill in the IP Address (Static), Netmask (Static) and Gateway (Static) fields. To connect the printer to Wi-Fi, choose Configure SSID, enter the Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password and save the settings.

Click Configure SSID and enter the name and password of your Wi-Fi. The printer is then connected to the network.

2. Create the printer

Open the Create printer dialog and fill in the following fields:
Name: display name of the printer
Location: pharmacy the printer belongs to
Printer type: printer type, for example Sunmi or Epson
SN: serial number of the printer; you'll find it on the device

Click Create to save the printer, or Cancel to cancel.

3. Error messages

Unknown serial number

The serial number entered isn't recognised. In the example, the test value "TestSN" was used. Check the serial number on the device and enter it exactly.

Printer is already connected

A printer with this serial number is already registered. Use the existing printer entry instead of creating a new one.

4. Printer list

After it's created, the printer appears as a row with the following columns:

  • Name: name of the printer
  • Printer type: printer type, for example Sunmi
  • Location: location of the printer
  • SDP link: link for the printer connection

The dot to the left of the name shows the status. Grey means the printer has been added but isn't connected yet.

Green means the printer is connected and ready to use.

5. Actions in the printer row

  • Pencil: edit the printer
  • Red bin: delete the printer
  • Three dots (⋮): more actions:
    • Test print: send a test print
    • Bind printer: link the printer to the system

6. Typical process

  1. Click Create printer and enter name, location, printer type and serial number.
  2. If the message Unknown serial number appears, correct the serial number.
  3. The printer appears in the list with a grey status dot.
  4. Open the ⋮ menu and choose Bind printer.
  5. The status dot turns green. The printer is now connected.
  6. Choose Test print to check that the printer prints.
